Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Courageous Community Church based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
There is one eternally existing God who has three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. He is the creator of all that exists, both visible and invisible, and is therefore worthy of all glory and praise. We believe that the Bible is the only infallible and authoritative Word of God. God is perfect in love, power, holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, justice, and mercy. He is unchangeable and therefore is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
Revelation
God has revealed himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ, who is the visible image of the invisible God, the holy scriptures, and through all of creation itself. We believe that we are saved by God’s grace, through faith in his Son Jesus Christ. This grace cannot be earned but is received through repentance, and faith in Jesus as our Savior and Lord; that once saved the Holy Spirit convicts, sanctifies, and adopts us into the kingdom of God as His sons and daughters in Christ.
Mankind
Humans, both male and female, were created in God's image for His glory. The first humans, Adam and Eve, were created without sin and appointed as caretakers of the rest of God's creations.
Marriage
We believe that marriage was created by God. Marriage is a sacred covenant created by God between a man and a woman. The man and woman become one in marriage when they publicly join together in marriage as an act of submission to God and to one another. They are called to honor this marriage covenant by maintaining sexual purity and learning to grow their love for one another and for God. Marriage is a lifetime commitment intended to be a foundation for the family.
Holy Spirit
We believe in the power and baptism of the Holy Spirit, which in Acts 1:4-8 and 2:4 is poured out on us to advance the His Kingdom, and undo the works of the enemy. That it is our calling as Jesus instructed to "heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give" Matthew 10:8.
Salvation
Jesus Christ came to reconcile us with God. He lived a life without sin and willingly died on the cross to pay the penalty for our transgressions. God raised him from the dead and now, by grace, offers as a free gift eternal life to all who follow Christ, by faith, as their Lord and Savior. That is why salvation can be found in Christ alone.
The Church
The Church is meant to be the visible body of Christ. We believe God has ordained the church to preach the gospel and to disciple the nations.
Ressurection
We believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, the one and only Son of God, who was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, empowered by the Holy Spirit to inaugurate God’s kingdom on earth. We believe that He was crucified for our sins, died on the cross, was buried in a tomb, resurrected on the 3rd day, and ascended into heaven. We believe that heaven and hell are real places. There will be a resurrection of the lost and the saved, the one to everlasting death and the other to everlasting life.
